Great birthday gift!

I bought this as a gift for a person who does not have a window in their office. When I took it out of the box it was a cloudy day and the glass drop was cloudy.
When she sent me pictures to thank me it was a clear day and the glass drop was clear.
So I think it works well. I think it is interesting and very well made. I grabbed the wooden base addon and looks very classy.

It was as advertised :-)

Bought it for my significant other (he is a "weather buff"). It has been right every time, even when TV weather personnel are wrong :-D. He loves it!

decorates my coffee table perfectly. It is quite accurate, changes based on actual weather and adds a lot of style to my loft. Love it.

First, I will admit that I am a total weather geek, have been since I was a kid, and I'm a forest ecologist interested in weather and climate effects on natural systems. I run a Davis VP2 system that has been connected to the Weather Underground for over 18 years (KCTCOLEB1); we have a second Davis console on the dinner table. I have about a dozen thermometers and barometers all around and inside of the house. I have a Netamo station. I have a sky cam, a Galileo thermometer, and a liquid barometer, too. Oh, and a cedar stick "barometer" as well. So it was a no-brainer when I stumbled upon a Fitzroy storm glass that didn't require a chemistry set to make it - I had to have this. So I ordered it and it was here in a couple of days. I stuck the tube in the base and put it on a stable shelf and LEFT IT ALONE. Within a few days, the solution started doing what it was supposed to do. Now, after about 3 weeks, the storm glass is in its groove and has correctly reacted to barometric pressure changes, big pressure bombs, windy weather, and clear weather. I'm a tough customer and would have gone neurotic on this thing had it not worked to spec. Well, it works. Just put it somewhere very stable, not prone to vibrations when you walk by it, and just leave it alone and wait. Pretty cool.

I first saw such an item (not much bigger than this model) in an up-scale catalog for $150! For the additional $141.69, it came with a nondescript wooden (with brass fittings) base. I am super happy to be able to save all this money and still get it!

So far so good! The news was predicting snow and I was worried my storm glass wasn't working but as it turns out the news was wrong. It's pretty neat. I'm still looking for a fun way to display it. Although it does sit nicely on a flat surface.

My friend seemed to enjoy one I bought for her, Ill probably buy another for myself. It was packaged very well.

You will love this cute little novelty item. It's really cute and I love the way it changes inside as the weather changes. Going to buy more as gifts.

Great little conversation piece.

A storm-glass is a marvellous thing. Unconnected to atmospheric influences, it changes nonetheless. 'Physicists' with a universally wrong model of the Universe attribute this inexplicable-to-them phenomenon to all kinds of things. like, among others, 'muon tunnelling', etc, etc, but in spite of the catechisms, the planets still revolve around the Sun and the Earth is NOT the centre of the Universe ! This Storm-Glass is wonderful and well-made, Welldone !

Nice product. For those hard to buy individuals :)

LOVE IT! I have to place it by a window or on my enclosed porch to fully work due to my house being sealed up tight to the elements. Not a problem though. It works just as the included card shows/states. Very fun and neat to examine!

This looks really cool and my boyfriend loves it. I did not expect it to actually work, I bought it as more of a novelty bc I knew he wanted one, but it seems to be really accurate. We love it and it doesn't leak or anything, it's perfect and looks nice
